Three years later, the first circuit was created, consisting of stages held on five beaches in California.

The success of this initiative led to the founding, in 1960, of the California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA), which boosted the practice, consolidating the sport worldwide in the 1980s.

Attracting several renowned court players, the sport had its first professional circuit in Australia. In 1996, at the Atlanta Games, beach volleyball officially became an Olympic sport.

Over the following decades, beach volleyball gained thousands of fans in the country, but was seen as a simple weekend diversion.

This changed in 1986, when Hollywood Volley was held in Copacabana and Santos (SP), with the participation of Brazilian and international athletes.
