Brazil’s greatest Wimbledon champions
Maria Esther Bueno was Wimbledon champion three times, in 1959, 1960 and 1964. She is the only Brazilian Wimbledon singles champion, in either the men’s or women’s division. One of the biggest Brazilian female tennis players of all time, she also won the doubles tournament five times.
In the doubles, tennis player Marcelo Melo, one of the greatest Brazilian tennis players of all time, won Wimbledon in 2017, surpassing his personal record, which was a runner-up finish in 2013, when he reached the final but lost the championship.
